The hottest prospect to walk through the college football arena this year was once again Caleb Williams. The USC Trojans quarterback is already attracting a lot of interest from several NFL franchises.

Last season, Williams announced himself with stellar performances. He completed 333 of 500 passes with a success rate of 66.6 and threw 42 touchdowns. On the rushing front, he carried the ball 113 times for 382 yards, for an average of 3.2 yards per game, en route to being crowned with the Heisman Trophy.

That trajectory has continued into 2023 as well. In the first two games against San Jose State and Stanford, Williams threw for 597 yards, scoring nine touchdowns with a completion rate of 73.5. No wonder fans are already calling the officials to give him another Heisman.

However, that can wait, as there are still a lot of games to be played. If he manages to keep producing the goods, he might add another to his trophy collection. But the question is whether this season is his last in college football.

Previously, his father had revealed that Williams would adopt a wait-and-watch approach. Reportedly, he had discussions with several ex-football players on the matter.

“I’ve talked to Archie Manning; his career was shot because he went to a horrible organization,” Carl Williams (Caleb’s father) said, as per ESPN. He also mentioned a few other players whose transition to the NFL hasn’t been smooth. “I’ve talked to Lincoln [Riley], and Kyler [Murray] struggled because of where he was drafted.”

Incidentally, the buzz is that the Arizona Cardinals want to replace Kyler Murray with Caleb Williams. If he does declare for the NFL Draft after this year, then it won’t just be Arizona looking for a trade.

The urge to see Caleb Williams in the NFL got another boost after he defeated Stanford. While several analysts are envisioning the 21-year-old in Arizona, fans from other franchises who want to see a change in their quarterback room demand their team, take a shot as well.

Williams himself, however, is choosing to shut the noise out and focus on the next match. Prior to the Standford match, it was revealed that his only goal was to take one game at a time.

We’ve got Stanford this week, and that’s what I’ll be worried about,” he told the media. “The game is three days out, and so it’s the main focus. That would be the answer to all of those questions about the NFL.”

It’s clear that he doesn’t want to talk about life after this season. That does make sense. With Shedeur Sanders hot on his tail, he needs to keep doing what he does best and win.
