Shocking revelations have arisen about Calvin Johnson, the former wide receiver of the Detroit Lions. In an interview with the former quarterback Robert Griffin III, the wide receiver who still holds the record for covering the most receiving yards, claimed that he was under the influence of Marijuana in some games. Johnson had an illustrious career. He played the game for nine years but only appeared in 135 games for the Lions. In the year 2016, the WR announced his retirement. He was only 30 years old when he took the major decision. After his retirement, the WR hinted at the immense physical struggle that he had to go through for Football. He suffered multiple injuries in his career and the WR addressed those after quitting football.
Johnson said at that time cited by Sports Illustrated in one of its articles:
They’re blowing up the team. My body is aching. I don’t have my range of motion like I use to. I can’t get out, I can’t dig like I used to. I just don’t feel it.Calvin Johnson said
Calvin Johnson still holds the record for most receiving yards in a season
No one has been able to touch the record that Calvin Johnson registered in his career. In the 2012 season, the WR registered the record of completing 1,964 receiving yards. Ahead of the 2023-24 season, Tyreek Hill, the WR who plays for the Dolphins made a bold statement that he would surpass 2,000 yards. The announcement suggested that Johnson’s record would come under threat.
Though Hill had a great start, he failed to surpass 2,000 yards in a single season. The record of the wide receiver also remained intact.
The wide receiver was inducted into the Hall of Famer list in the year 2021. The WR’s career was short compared to the other Hall of Famers. The physical struggle affected him so much that his career was cut short.
