As the league has reached the final stages of the 2023 regular season, the MVP debate is heating up. Currently, the San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy is one of the front runners for the prestigious award. However, some people including former NFL quarterback Cam Newton have been criticising Purdy despite his good campaign. On the other side, few people including the Niners wideout Deebo Samuel have been calling out the critics.

In that trend, the Niners wide receiver Deebo Samuel called out Cam Newton and the Dallas Cowboys linebacker Micah Parsons over their constant criticism of the 49ers quarterback. While calling out Newton, Samuel implied that the former Carolina Panthers QB has been calling him for an appearance in his podcast.

And now, Newton has posted a 2-minute long video on his social media profile refuting Samuel’s claims. He didn’t say Samuel was lying but simply said that he wasn’t the one who was contacting the 49ers wideout.

Deebo, my guy. Been a fan, still a fan. You must stop the cap bro. You said something like Cam stop calling my phone. I don’t have your number. Whoever calling you, that is not my phone calling you.

Moreover, Cam Newton went on to say that Samuel should post the proof of the texts if what he was saying was true. Newton further claimed that he doesn’t even have Deebo Samuel’s number.

I don’t have your number to call you or reach out to you. And if I do, put it out there for people to see. I want the receipt. Maybe somebody was reaching out to you that I don’t necessarily know. But it wasn’t me homeboy.

Deebo Samuel got played by a kid pretending to be Cam Newton

Following Cam Newton’s challenge to leak the chats, the 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel posted a chat between him and supposedly Newton on his X profile.

But, as it turned out, Samuel wasn’t texting with Newton. Instead, he was pranked by some kids pretending to be the former NFL quarterback. Later, a video emerged showing the kids prank-calling Samuel. The Niners wideout was heavily trolled on social media for falling to a prank by kids.

Nonetheless, Samuel would now be focused on helping his team win their week 17 game against the Washington Commanders, who the Niners are scheduled to face this weekend. Samuel would look to help Purdy shut down the critics by putting up good numbers against the struggling Commanders.
