The NFL Hall of Fame, home to the greatest players to ever step onto the football field is one that players and fans have mixed feelings towards. This is because there are few players who played in the league at an elite level but had their careers cut short due to injuries or other factors and did not make it into the HOF. Cam Newton is one such athlete who strongly believes he deserves to be inducted into Canton Ohio for changing the way QBs play in the NFL.

The former Carolina Panther had Brandon Marshall on his podcast, Funky Friday with Cam Newton wherein his guest decided to pull a UNO reverse on him and ask him if he truly believed that he was worthy of being a Hall of Famer. Newton appeared to brush the question off by stating that he “don’t give a f*ck” about being in the Hall of Fame or not but Brandon Marshall himself knows how to get answers out of individuals in interviews.

Eventually, Cam Newton caved and decided to answer his question:

Hell yeah, I'll say it like this...I think it was Kanye who said it. When I first came into the league, it was only one of me. Now when I look around the league, I see so many me's.

Honestly, the former NFL MVP could not have put it any better. He spoke his mind through the lyrics of Kanye West.

Cam Newton revolutionized the way quarterbacks are perceived in the NFL

The Carolina Panthers Super Bowl run in 2015, the same year Newton won the MVP will go down as one of the greatest years in the team’s history. The quarterback changed the way the game is played as he was built like a tight end, could run through defensive players, and threw the ball well like every quarterback should. This combination at the time was unheard of in the NFL, the league had seen quarterbacks who could run but none who could do it like Newton.

Fast forward a decade after Cam Newton’s MVP season, one looks around the NFL and one can see that there are multiple quarterbacks who have elements of the Panthers legend in their games. Jalen Hurts, Anthony Richardson, Josh Allen, Justin Fields, and of course, Lamar Jackson. They are all quarterbacks who can throw the ball but are dual-threats as they can run the ball just as well.

Hurts, Jackson, and Richardson are all built like Cam in many ways and each of them are franchise quarterback of their respective teams. This is one instance where the NFL Hall of Fame should have considered inducting Cam Newton but it does not look like that will be happening anytime soon. HOF or not, Newton has already established himself as the man who played a pivotal role in paving the way for dual-threat QBs in the league.
