The Atlanta Falcons recently made a shocking move and signed free agent Kirk Cousins as their long-term quarterback. Cousins got a massive deal from the Falcons and is now set to be their QB for the next four years. Amidst this, the former Carolina Panthers QB Cam Newton shared his two cents on the Falcons giving a massive deal to Cousins.

During a recent episode of The 4th and 1 show, Newton expressed his shock at the Falcons signing Cousins to a long-term deal. Newton claimed that Cousins’ poor playoff record is an alarming cause. Furthermore, he also noted how the 35-year-old QB is coming off an Achilles injury.

It is extremely alarming that he only had one playoff win in 12 years. ... he's coming off of an injury. It's definitely alarming to see.

So far, in his career, Cousins has proved again and again that he is capable of leading an NFL franchise. However, he has won only one playoff game in 12 years, which Newton believes is extremely alarming. Cousins has a record of 1-3 in the postseason. Newton believes Cousins got the big deal because he does not make a lot of noise off the field.

We don't see Kirk Cousins outside of football ... It's real quiet. . . I think the Atlanta Falcons were trying to go for a Matt Ryan.

Newton believes the Falcons decided to rope in Cousins since he is a safe pick and won’t be a distraction. Nonetheless, Cousins is ready for his new beginnings in Atlanta, and he would look to lead them to the promised land. But, many believe the Atlanta-based football team has overpaid the 35-year-old, who is coming off an Achilles injury.

Cam Newton is not mad about Kirk Cousins getting his money

Despite questioning the Atlanta Falcons‘ decision to give Kirk Cousins a massive contract, Cam Newton also said he is not mad about the quarterback getting his money. Besides, Newton also said no player is responsible for teams’ losses, so his postseason win-loss record shouldn’t be held against him.

Do I get mad, or frustrated that I see this statistic that he's made $329 million in fully guaranteed money. F--- no. Go get that money.

Nonetheless, the Falcons have traded their former starting QB Desmond Ridder to the Arizona Cardinals. Now, they will try to build a strong team around Cousins to help him lead them to a title in the future.

The Falcons already have some pieces. Now, they will focus on getting Cousins more help in the upcoming draft and free agency.
