“I ain’t recanting sh*t!” Cam Newton firmly stands by Brock Purdy’s assessment as ‘Game Manager’ while ranking the 49ers QB as 10th best player on his team
Newton is not budging away from his early assessment of the 49ers QB.

With his brilliant performance on the gridiron, Brock Purdy has won the hearts of many fans and analysts. A few days back, Ryan Clark, who did not think highly of Purdy before, was impressed with him after the latter secured the NFC Championship for his team.
The latest to join the bandwagon is Cam Newton, who had remarked that Brock Purdy is just a game manager, a few weeks back. However, he tweaked his opinion a bit after watching Purdy win the NFC Championship.

In the recent episode of his 4th and 1 Podcast, Newton explained that he never intended to spread any hatred towards the quarterback. What he stated was plain and simple facts. Despite tweaking the statement a bit, he defended what he said.
I’ve never said Brock Purdy was trash; what I did say is that Brock Purdy is a game manager--That’s not hate, that’s just what I feel to be facts. But I still reserve the right to say this: to be labeled a game-changer, Brock Purdy has to be the best player on the offensive side of the ball. And that’s not the case.
Newton also couldn’t help himself by taking a dig at Purdy. According to Newton, the 49ers QB is not even in the top five players list of his own team. Newton said,
Man, look, I ain’t recanting s--t, and if you really want to just be honest, if you add in the defensive talent, and you add in the offensive talent, Brock Purdy is the 10th-best player on this team--Ok cool, did he have a great game? Yes! Has he been playing out of his mind? Yes! Is he a quarterback that’s hot? Yes! But he’s still the 10th-best player on his team.
Brock Purdy will get a chance to prove his might to Cam Newton
On a chilly evening in Vegas on the 11th of February, Brock Purdy will play the most important game of his life. He has done everything that he could do to take the team to the Super Bowl. He was brilliant in the regular season, registered brilliant individual stats, and is still one of the favorites for the MVP Award. The only accolade that will nullify all the criticism around him is the Super Bowl ring and he would do everything to clinch it.

Purdy’s performance was average in the two postseason games. He was intercepted a couple of times and more or less remained silent in two games. It was his star teammates like Christian McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel who provided the rhythm to the 49ers team.
However, Purdy knows he can not afford to remain silent against the second-best defense in the world. If the Niners have to make it, the man under center needs to be at his usual best.
