The former Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan — who retired from the sport following a remarkable 15-year-long run — is currently working as a sportscaster for NFL on CBS Sports. On Sunday, he was in New Orleans to call the week 9 game between the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears.

Even when he was working as a sportscaster, Matt Ryan couldn’t escape the wrath of the Saints’ defensive end Cameron Jordan. The Saints’ defensive end has sacked Ryan 23 times in their career, most by any defender against any quarterback. And now, when Ryan arrived in New Orleans as a sportscaster, he still got sacked by the former All-Pro defensive end.

In a short video, shared on social media by NFL on CBS Sports, Cam Jordan could be seen ‘sacking’ a well-dressed Matt Ryan from behind. Jordan snuck behind Ryan and lifted him on air before letting him down and sharing a moment with him. Ryan was initially shocked by someone lifting him from behind his back, but once he realized it was Cameron Jordan, Ryan shared a handshake and patted the Saints pass rusher on his back. Check out the footage attached below.

Later during the broadcast, they shared the footage of the incident and Ryan was reminded of his tough times going against one of the most dominant defensive linemen in the past decade during his playing days.

I thought I was done with. I thought that was over. . . That part of my life was over!
Ryan said during the Saints-Bears broadcast on CBS.

Nonetheless, Jordan and the Saints had a good outing against the Bears on Sunday. They managed to register a 24-17 victory on the back of solid performances from many players including Jordan. The Saints pass rusher registered one sack in the game and helped his defense keep the Bears to just 17 points.

With that victory, the Saints improved to a solid 5-4 record and currently have the sole position of the NFC South division. Next, they are scheduled to go against the Minnesota Vikings in their week 10 matchup this weekend.

Matt Ryan had a solid 15-year run in the NFL

A former 3rd overall pick, Matt Ryan had a remarkable run in the NFL that spanned 15 years. He had a 14-year-long run as the Falcons quarterback and he spent one year with the Indianapolis Colts at the end of his career.

During the remarkable run, Ryan received 4 Pro Bowl nods and and 1 first-team All-Pro season. He also won several awards including the 2016 League MVP award and the 2008 Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Following a poor outing with the Colts back in 2022, Ryan signed a deal with CBS Sports to work as an NFL broadcaster. He, however, hasn’t officially announced his retirement from the sport.
