The Cincinnati Bengals risk losing their offensive core. While the team has offered the world to quarterback Joe Burrow and locked him in for the near future, the team has neglected the demands of stars such as Tee Higgins. The wide receiver for the team finds himself in a hopeless situation after the team decided to use the franchise tag on him.

Tee Higgins did not have any of this and instantly demanded a trade because he had gotten frustrated for not being compensated fairly for his contributions. The wideout has been awaiting a long-term deal for some time, but the Bengals have fallen short of meeting his expectations. The team’s strategy was to lock in Joe Burrow for an extended period, which they accomplished, and now intends to retain Ja’Marr Chase by offering him a lucrative extension.

This puts Tee Higgins in a bit of an awkward situation. The team has hoped that he will accept the franchise tag for one year and then they can make room to offer him a significant extension. But the wide receiver is playing things smart. Since teams in the NFL do not value loyalty over business much, Higgins is not giving the Bengals the benefit of the doubt. He has requested to be traded.

Tee Higgins has complete faith in his talent and is testing the free agency market

Chad Ochocinco Johnson of the Nightcap show with Shannon Sharpe has urged Tee Higgins to stick to his demands and believes that it is high time the wide receiver gets paid.

"Too much money, would let him walk!" - Bengals franchise tagging WR Tee Higgins for around $21.8 million doesn't sit well with fans on social media

Tee Higgins situation, one thing the Bengals do very well, is they going to have them some goddamn receivers. Tee Higgins deserves to be paid like a number 1 receiver. There's sometimes everybody can't stay and what Tee is deserving of is that #1 goddamn money.
Ochocinco said.

The former wideout clapped back at fans who claim that Ja’Marr Chase is the best wideout on the Bengals over Higgins.

When you talk to casual fans that love the game, they'll say 'Oh Ja'Marr Chase is #1 and Tee's a number 2.' Hell sh*t nah, you got me fooled. Them two #1s and he deserves to be paid as such. Tee, you can't take no hometown discount.

Higgins is due for his first major contract extension. The issue has become that while the Bengals want to retain him on their roster, they are struggling to keep him, Chase, and Burrow happy. Due to this, the team was compelled to franchise tag him for the season. But the wideout understands this is a business and he is not going to wait for the Bengals, which is why he is testing free agency.
