Chandler Jones is one of the more unfortunate stories in the NFL. The former defensive end who dominated for the New England Patriots and the Las Vegas Raiders has had frequent run-ins with the police arising as a result of mental health concerns. Jones was in the news for the same when a clip of an altercation between him and the police took place at his residence.
In the video reported by TMZ, officers from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office can be seen arriving at a residence in Arizona, but before they come near the gate of his residence, Jones yells at the police to “stay there, stay there” and not approach his residence. He asks them “what do you need?” The officers clarify and speak calmly responding by stating that they were merely responding to a phone call made to them which informed them that Jones was burning his furniture.
Chandler Jones initially denies claims of furniture being burned. He then denies these claims and proceeds to ask them their names. When one of the officers states that they can smell the burning, the defensive end makes it clear that it is just wood.
No furniture is being burned Sir, I'm sorry...no furniture is being burned. There's no furniture, wood only. Do you want me to bring the firewood out for you?Chandler Jones
Chandler Jones was cut by the Las Vegas Raiders earlier this year
Here’s where it gets really disturbing. The first part of the conversation seems to have taken place in the night, however, the next part of the clip is during the day. So presumably the cops returned the following morning to take a look at what was going down there. An officer steps up and tells Chandler Jones, “Mr. Jones, we’ve got to talk about why we’re here now.”
At this point, the camera just drops and all that can be heard is Jones screaming “Wait, NO! NO! NO!” The cops can be heard attempting to calm him down by saying, “Listen, listen, listen. We’re here to help” and then the video cuts out. It is still not clear what exactly happened and what it was the officers were seeking from Jones.

Sadly this is not that long after…
The defensive end was arrested twice in Las Vegas previously over violations of a restraining order relating to domestic violence. He was cut from the Raiders after he posted open threats against Mark Davis and former HC Josh McDaniels. He posted a random outburst of his wherein he was seen crying after talking about the death of controversial Patriots’ TE Aaron Hernandez.
Jones has had mental health issues in the past and has been hospitalized and arrested over the same, sadly it does not seem like things are getting better for him because he does need to be around family and seek help if he does medically need it.
