Lamar Jackson is currently in a precarious position over his contract dispute with the Baltimore Ravens. The 26-year old QB primarily desires a fully guaranteed contract. However, the Ravens aren’t willing to offer him that.
This led to him being franchise tagged by the Ravens whis further resulted in Jackson asking for a trade away from Baltimore. Recently, Jalen Hurts signed a new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles which has not helped Jackson’s situation one bit.
New reportes suggest that the recent contract that Jackson rejected from the Ravens was more lucrative than the Hurts deal that made him the highest paid player in the history of the NFL.
NBA legend Charles Barkley recently spoke about the Jackson trade drama on The Really Big Show on ESPN and shared his brutal thoughts regarding the whole ordeal.
Barkley thinks Jackson is ‘playing with fire’ and soon will get himself burned. The Ravens won’t allow their QB to screw up the business model just by offering him a guaranteed money contract.
This is the typical story of Icarus, who flew too close to the sun and got himself burnt. According to Barkley, Lamar Jackson will have to accept a new deal sooner or later.
“Lamar, you’re playing with fire, brother,” Charles Barkley stated on the Really Big Show. “You’re going to get burnt. These dudes, they’re all billionaires. They’re not going to let you screw up their business model. You’ve got to take the best deal. It’s not even about Lamar. I know what they’re saying behind the scenes.”
Lamar Jackson’s fully guaranteed money contract has the potential to change the NFL

There are currently many young QBs in the NFL who are on the level of Lamar Jackson if not better. QBs like Justin Herbert and Joe Burrow have been impressive.
Charles Barkley strongly believes that if Jackson were supposed to get a fully guaranteed contract, then that would lead to a butterfly effect of every young QB receiving a lucrative, fully guaranteed deal. The NFL team owners can’t afford to let that happen. Therefore, there is very little possibility of Jackson receiving a fully guaranteed deal.
Barkley also gave Jackson stern advice regarding his future and urged him to say yes to a contract offer that he received from the Ravens. The only other alternative Lamar Jackson has is to not play altogether and he can’t afford to do that. With the NFL draft appearing around the horizon, the chances of Jackson getting a trade get slimmer.
