Charles Omenihu may have to skip the 49ers’ much-awaited clash with the Eagles for the NFC conference title. The 49ers DE was recently arrested due to misdemeanor and domestic violence. Omenihu’s status for the 49ers-Eagles game is still unknown as there has been no recent confirmation by the team over his availability or unavailability.
The 49ers DE was arrested after his girlfriend filed a complaint in California regarding domestic violence. Omenihu was soon arrested and was under judicial custody for quite some time. However, the 25-year-old later posted bail and left the police station.
Although the DE is not under arrest right now, there is still a looming cloud over his availability for the most important game of their season until now. Omenihu was also slapped with a restraining order by his girlfriend, which makes it impossible for him to meet her under any circumstances.
“We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information,” the 49ers said in a statement to NFL.com.
Omenihu’s girlfriend alleged that the 49ers DE assaulted her at their home during an argument that occurred on Monday. However, she immediately denied the request to get medical attention.
The Police Department stated that there were no signs of visible physical injuries. However, his girlfriend reportedly complained about arm pain. Omenihu is a vital instrument for the 49ers’ defense and his absence will surely be missed.
Charles Omenihu is vital for the 49ers as they prepare to face the Eagles
The Eagles are currently in flying form right now with Jalen Hurts being the best QB in the league currently. The Eagles QB can single-handedly shatter defenses and the 49ers will need all the defensive rushers that they can get.
Charles Omenihu had a decent start in San Francisco as their depth DE after being drafted by the Texans. He’s started 3 games out of the possible 7 while recording 4.5 sacks and 20 combined tackles.
Omenihu was also part of the 49ers’ immaculate victory against the Cowboys where the DE played 25% of the 49ers’ defensive duties and came out on the top.
The 49ers’ DE will surely be missed and HC Kyle Shanahan will have a tough time replacing him as he’ll need all his players in full fitness and complete availability if they wish to take down the aspiring Super Bowl winners, the 49ers.
However, if new updates are to be believed, then Charles Omenihu may be part of the Eagles game, according to Mike Florio.
