Chase Young is all set to pack his bag once again. Within five months, he will be a part of three different teams. In the middle of the 2023 season, the San Francisco 49ers signed Young from the Washington Commanders. Young had contributed well to the performance as the Niners won their conference championship and came runner-up in the Super Bowl. They lost against the Kansas City Chiefs in over time.

However, the Niners did not feel like keeping him in the squad for the 2024 season. As per Ian Rapport, Young is set to join the New Orleans Saints on a deal worth $13 million. This deal will strengthen the Saints’ defense.

After the success in the 2023-24 season, the 49ers witnessed some major structural changes in their roster. The head coach was reportedly not happy with the performance that his defense portrayed. Hence, the ongoing changes in the squad. The management soon announced the sacking of Steve Wilks, the team’s DC. Again, another defensive change occurred inside the squad.

In the Niners colors, Young had a good season with ten combined tackles and five solo ones. In addition, he had 2.5 sacks. However, in an attempt to maintain a good cap structure, the team decided to let him go.

The offseason has gone well for the Niners. It started with the Niners releasing their defensive option Arik Armstead. They made three major signings to strengthen the defense. The team acquired Maliek Collins and Jordan Elliott. In addition, they re-signed their DL Kevin Givens.

The 49ers can sign a new wide receiver in the coming time

The NFL offseason shopping is not done yet for the Niners. Sources revealed that they are eying to the Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Zay Jones. This would be done in exchange for their wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.

Mia O’Brien, a journalist at the Jacksonville Radio, linked the two players to the respective teams. He also noted that the Niners would want to get rid of Aiyuk, who had severe problems against the team after the Super Bowl.

This offseason, the Niners have focused mainly on defensive players. In the postseason run, the team suffered heavily due to their defensive inabilities. To restructure the defense completely, the Niners team signed a two-year deal with the defensive end Leonard Floyd, which valued the player at $24 million.

In addition, the Niners did think of strengthening the offense as they signed Joshua Dobbs as their backup quarterback after Brock Purdy. Dobbs had a decent stint with the Minnesota Vikings last season. Though he failed to impress the football lovers completely, the 49ers gave him a backup opportunity.
