Leading the NFC North with 10-4 standings, Detroit Lions are now heading towards claiming the divisional title. As the team is scheduled to face their divisional rival, Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Eve, all anyone can talk about Lions’ playoff hunt.

Now C.J. Gardner-Johnson has also returned to practice on Wednesday after recovering from a severely torn pectoral muscle in the game against the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2. His recovery has been truly astonishing for a player with a season-ending injury.

With Johnson’s return, the Lions have got a boost down the stretch straight into the playoffs. After the practice session on Wednesday, the Lions’ safety Johnson was asked whether he thinks the Lions could be a threat in the playoffs.

Johnson fired back at the reporter:

That's the dumbest question, you know we're a threat. C'mon, man!

From his response, it seems now that the safety has returned, he is firm on leading his team to the playoffs.

As confident about claiming a victory against the Vikings on Sunday, it will be the first time for the Lions to clinch their first playoff berth since 2017. On the contrary, if the team suffered a loss on Sunday, there’s still a chance for them to clinch a wildcard spot in the playoffs. If either the Los Angeles Rams or Seattle Seahawks lose the week, then it would give the Lions a benefit.

In week 2, trainers knew that C.J. Gardner-Johnson had torn his pectoral in the very first drive of the game. However, that didn’t stop him from finishing the game which he was really adamant about.

On his return, as Johnson attended the practice session on Wednesday, he recalled:

We win or we lose, they going to know that I’m a dog.

He added further:

Regardless if I tore it, broke it. I just want everybody to know I'm the same person. Broke arm, healed arm. Whatever it’s going to be, I'm out there.

Although it hasn’t been clear whether the Lions safety would play on Sunday, Johnson seems thrilled to be back, and considering his press conference with the media, it seems he is back to slam the opponents with his stellar gameplay and lead his team to the playoffs.
