The much anticipated Super Bowl game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles has turned into a slugfest as both teams are scoring points at regular intervals. However, the Chiefs faced a setback as their starting QB Patrick Mahomes limped off the field after reaggravating his ankle injury, which he suffered during his game against the Jacksonville Jaguars in the divisional round.
During the final minutes of the second quarter, the Eagles LB T.J. Edwards tackled the MVP quarterback Patrick Mahomes by wrapping his legs to force a 4th down. After the tackle, the Chiefs QB was slow to get up but managed to limp off the field on his own. The Chiefs punted the ball away with over a minute left in the first half, which eventually led to a field goal by the Eagles.
The Eagles managed to convert a last-second field goal and extended their lead to 24-14 at the halftime mark. However, the biggest story after the first half was Mahomes’ ankle injury which left the Chiefs fans in a dire state. But, the Chiefs might’ve avoided a massive scare as their Pro Bowl QB was seen running to the tunnel without any trouble between the halves.
The Chiefs QB first suffered the injury during the first quarter of the Jaguars game. Following that he played the entire AFC Championship game against the Bengals despite his injury and helped his team to reach the big game.
Chiefs fans are in shambles following Patrick Mahomes injury
The Chiefs fans on social media were devastated after seeing their franchise QB Patrick Mahomes limping off the field with an ankle injury. Losing Mahomes would be a massive loss for the Chiefs, especially during the middle of a slugfest against a good offensive team.
Anyhow, the All-Pro QB got back on the field and even led a touchdown drive, but it’s still not sure how fit Mahomes is after that injury. So as the game goes on if he is unable to put weight on his ankle, it might cost the Chiefs a Super Bowl ring.
However, it’s a given that Patrick Mahomes will be on the field for his team as long as he physically can as this is the last game of the season and he would not miss this game, even if it means playing through an ankle injury. The two-time league MVP is looking to add one more Super Bowl ring and Super Bowl MVP to his resume and he would not let anything stop him from achieving it.
