The Super Bowl LVII is nearer than ever, and the fans can’t wait for the NFL’s biggest clash of the season. The titular contest between the AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs and the NFC Champions, the Philadelphia Eagles proves to be a mouth watering contest for both sets of fans and the neutral football enthusiast.

Chiefs fans, however, will breathe a bit uneasy days before the big game, after owner Clark Hunt gave an unwanted update about the fitness of quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The 27-year-old has been in super rich form throughout the season, and is one of the primary reasons for the Chiefs’ success so far.

Mahomes’ performances have been vindicated by the fact that he won the NFL MVP award for the second time in his career. Winning a total of 48 votes of the allotted 50, it was a landslide victory for Mahomes ahead of his competitor, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts.

However, personal achievements would mean less after this Sunday’s game, if the ultimate trophy in the NFL ends up going to the Philadelphia Eagles. Speaking on the fitness of Patrick Mahomes, Hunt clarified that he will not be fully fit going into the biggest game of the season.

Mahomes suffered a high ankle sprain during the Chiefs’ NFL Divisional playoffs against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Hunt clarified that while Mahomes has an excellent immunity system, it would still be an uphill task for the quarterback.

“Since he got hurt several weeks ago, I can’t even count the number of times I’ve been asked that question,” Hunt said while making an appearance on Fox & Friends, ahead of the Super Bowl.

“The great thing is Patrick’s a very fast healer, and he was able to get ready to play the AFC Championship game in a week on that high ankle sprain and did just an amazing job, including making the pivotal play at the end of the game that helped us win it – on his legs. He’s doing great this week. I don’t know that he’ll be at 100%, but he sure is going to tell you otherwise,” he continued.

The 2022-23 season’s MVP played on against the Bengals with that injury, and it was always going to be a race against time to get himself fit for the Super Bowl. The Chiefs take on the Eagles at the State Farm Stadium on the 12th of February.
