Kansas City Chiefs pulled off an incredible Super Bowl win over the Philadelphia Eagles to win their third Lombardi Trophy. The 3x Super Bowl champions overcame a 24-14 deficit at half time, with exceptional outings from two of their veterans Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
Kelce had one of the best seasons of his career registering a total of 110 receptions over 1,338 yards including 12 touchdowns scored. For him, the Super Bowl was an emotional affair on a personal front too, as he faced off against his brother Jason Kelce.
He appeared at the Super Bowl parade in a celebratory mood, and took a vicious jibe at those who doubted their quality before the season. Kelce wants a repeat of their success next season as well as he involved all the fans during his speech at the parade.
Travis Kelce fired up the fans during his speech at the Chiefs parade
“Let me take you back to 2022, maybe in the month of April,” Kelce said. “Guys were getting signed left and right. The haters were saying that the Chiefs would never make the playoffs. The haters were saying the Chiefs were done. Let’s run this sh*t back.”
Travis Kelce has already stated that he would continue with the Chiefs until the time he announces his retirement. It didn’t come as a surprise given the form he displayed this season.
It could well be the start of a dynasty of sorts for the Chiefs in the AFC West division. In Andy Reid, they have a brilliant tactician who showed his true mettle in the second half of the Super Bowl.
Before the season nobody really gave the Chiefs a chance to win the biggest prize in football, due to their offseason strategy. The Chiefs lost out on their premier wide receiver, Tyreek Hill who was traded away to the Dolphins.
Without Hill, many thought that Mahomes won’t be as effective as he used to be in the past, a prophecy which couldn’t have been further from the truth.
