A week after Justyn Ross was arrested for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, an affidavit released on Friday provided new details on the events. Ross was found going through her stuff and even scratching her expensive car.
On October 23, before the arrest by Shawnee police, Ross claimed that while going through her phone, he discovered evidence of cheating. He admitted to breaking a computer and throwing some stuff but revealed that those belonged to him. Ross said he did not touch any of her possessions.
However, two neighbors, including his grandmother, allegedly saw the Kansas City Chiefs‘ wide receiver push the woman to the ground. They also claimed he ran a knife across the Mercedes.
According to KMBC.com, the affidavit mentioned that there was a “small scratch” on her. Not only that, Ross also broke her phone and jewelry. But he denied everything.
What will happen to Justyn Ross?
TMZ Sports revealed Justyn Ross was charged with one count of domestic battery and one count of criminal damage of less than $1,000. On October 24, Ross pleaded not guilty to all the allegations in court. He is due to return for a further hearing on December 4.
On the football front, he was placed on the Commissioner’s Exempt List. It means that starting October 28, he will not be able to take part in any NFL games until the foreseeable future. He is not allowed to rejoin practice and was barred from traveling to Germany with his team to face the Miami Dolphins. The few perks that he can enjoy are attending team meetings and receiving necessary medical treatment.
Justyn Ross was born in Phenix, Alabama, and played college football with the Clemson Tigers. He achieved 1,000 receiving yards as a redshirt freshman and finished his four-year tenure as their fifth-all-time touchdown leader with 20 in 2021. Then he skipped his senior year and was announced for the NFL Draft.
The Kansas City Chiefs signed Ross after he went undrafted in 2022. He was a Super Bowl winner but did not take a single snap due to off-season foot surgery. In 2023, he played in three games before the arrest. His best outing came against the Minnesota Vikings, with two receptions for 28 yards.
