The Kansas City Chiefs have one of the most loyal fanbases in the entirety of the National Football League, and even they would not be pleased with the latest development that involves one of their biggest fans. Xavier Michael Babudar, more popularly known as ChiefsAholic, has finally been arrested by the FBI’s Kansas City unit on the 7th of July and is all set to be produced before a U.S. District Court in Sacramento.
The 28-year-old man was on the run from police officials for the past four months. He has been accused of committing a series of robberies and “transporting stolen property across state lines.” Things can take a turn for the worse even further as the federal grand jury is all set to determine whether to impose further charges on the Chiefs superfan.
Babudar gained fame on Twitter courtesy of his fan account @ChiefsAholic which boasted a large number of follower base on the social media platform. He attended the majority of Chiefs’ games till 2022, dressing up in a famous wolf costume. However, his absence from social media and during the Chiefs’ game against the Houston Texans on Week 14 made fans suspicious about his whereabouts.
ChiefsAholic is currently facing charges and nothing has been proven as of now
The Chiefs won that game, but the fans discovered a rather bitter truth about Babudar regarding how he funded his travels throughout the country and the actual cause of him not being active on Twitter. In December 2022, Babudar has been accused of robbing the Tulsa Teachers Federal Credit Union in Tulsa County.
However, he was released a couple of months later in February, but trouble started once again in late March when he got rid of his ankle monitor in a bid to elope from the scene. Investigators also accused ChiefsAholic of committing numerous bank robberies throughout the Midwest, links to which have been traced back to his call details.
A statement from the FBI read, “According to an affidavit filed in support of the federal criminal complaint, Babudar purchased and redeemed more than $1 million in chips from various casinos in Missouri, Kansas, and Illinois between April and December 2022.”
It must be clarified that all these are simply allegations against the Chiefs superfan, and judgment is yet to be passed over him being actually guilty or innocent. With so much trouble on his personal front, ChiefsAholic can look for some sort of solace in the fact that his team managed to win the Super Bowl last season, making it their second title in the last three years.
