After the defeat in their season opener, the Kansas City Chiefs have bounced back well in the league. The team won consecutive three games and has started providing a solid threat to the opponent’s defense. However, despite winning, the Chiefs failed to establish dominance over the opposition and analysts are blaming it on their wide receivers as they are nowhere near the NFL level.

Analyst Chris Broussard from the show ‘First Things First,’ shed light on the issue. He said that the Chiefs are not taking the issue seriously and it would hurt the playmaking abilities of Patrick Mahomes. Broussard thinks he is suffering without a proper WR and it is the responsibility of the team to provide him with a perfect WR who would help the attack in establishing the dominance.

He is not having the typical Patrick Mahomes, but no, he is not the reason. I will not say that they are struggling, they are three in four but they are offensively struggling. Take out the Chicago Bears, which was a 20-point game. But it is not Patrick Mahomes. Credit to him for being a great leader, but I think, the uneasy answer would be ‘GIVE ME SOME RECEIVERS!.'”

The analyst did not stop there. In his next words, he criticized the team vehemently and said, “They are taking him (Mahomes) for granted. Do you know why he is running more this year? They do not have a receiver in the top 50. They do not have a receiver in terms of running yards. They do not have a receiver in the top 70.”

Broussard’s words ring true when it comes to the Chiefs’ receiving game. They are really struggling without a proper receiver. As things stand now, the Chiefs are playing with young receivers who are second-year or third-years.

Patrick Mahomes yet to hit the prime form

Last year’s MVP award winner Patrick Mahomes started things in style. He shined on the turf in their opening encounter when the other Chiefs’ players failed to bolster their mark. Apart from the game vs. the New York Jets, he played every game with conviction. With time in the league, the QB is showing his true colors.

Till now, Mahomes has covered 1,006 passing yards and registered eight touchdowns. He has a quarterback rating of 71.9 and stands at the fourth position among other QBs. The second highest-paid QB completed 92 of his 143 passing attempts, with a completion rate of 64%. The headache that he must be having is the increased number of interceptions this season. He has been intercepted four times in the league.
