Chris Broussard CLAIMS the Patriots can’t fire HC Bill Belichick even after another terrible season due to his legacy with Tom Brady
Broussard is adamant that Belichick still has at least two more seasons in him as the Patriots coach.

There’s no such thing as ‘untouchable’ in football. Anyone from players to coaches to even the ball boy has to perform at their very best in order to keep their jobs intact. If, by chance, that does not happen, the management will be quick to show them the door. Will the same thing happen to Bill Belichick for failing to deliver good results after the Tom Brady era?
The New England Patriots are in a slump, and the entire NFL is aware of it. Their inability to compete in the AFC and not reaching the playoffs are some of the few shortcomings since Brady left. It’s no surprise that whispers of the veteran coach finally being let go are spreading.
Despite the alarm bells ringing furiously, NFL analyst Chris Broussard does not believe in the sacking of Bill Belichick. “You have to respect what he has accomplished. They cannot fire Belichick,” Broussard claimed while debating in a recent segment of FOX’s First Things First.
Several analysts speculate that Belichick is still thinking that Brady plays for the Patriots. But the reality is that he has a new quarterback in the form of Mac Jones, who is still new to the NFL. When Brady was playing, he had similarly great players, such as Sebastian Vollmer and Rob Gronkowski with him. But the 15-time Pro Bowler was a phenomenon and was able to generate plays by himself. They had a great chance of getting DeAndre Hopkins, but according to reports, Belichick was not interested.
Broussard was one of the first to say that the Patriots wouldn’t acquire Hopkins. “That (Hopkins) wasn’t going to happen that D-Hop will not be a Patriot.” However, he clarifies that if they had pushed for the move, right now Hopkins would be a Patriot instead of a Titan.

2023 could be Bill Belichick’s last season as Patriot’s coach whether Chris Broussard likes it or not
The Patriots have gotten worse as time has gone on. Even if the failure to get DeAndre Hopkins is set aside, they have had a hit rate worse than the Houston Texans since 2018. Their highest draft pick was Ja’Whaun Bentley.
Furthermore, black clouds started to form when the management gave Jerod Mayo a massive contract. Besides, offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien is waiting in the wings for a chance. It’s a sign that owner Robert Kraft is thinking about the future. But Bill Belichick is not an idiot. He is surely aware of his precarious position over the past few seasons.
Still, getting rid of the 71-year-old won’t be easy for Kraft. Broussard made the valid point that this is Bill Belichick, not just anyone. Prior to his arrival in 2000, the Patriots had only gone to the playoffs seven times in 20 years. Under Belichick, they played in the postseason 18 times. But an era has to come to an end at some point. Maybe the only reason Belichick will keep going is to break Don Shula’s 347-win record, which he can overtake with 23 more victories.
