After a 42-10 victory, last weekend, against the Dallas Cowboys, San Francisco 49ers’ quarterback Brock Purdy outdid himself. Though Dak Prescott made headlines, Purdy surely played better than him, tossing four touchdown passes.

Since the game, a discussion has been started on how good the 49ers quarterback is, after the 10-0 record in the regular season and average victory margin of 18 points, after last season. But the main question that everyone is thinking about these days is whether Purdy is going to be the next Joe Montana or Tom Brady.

Speaking of which, on a recent episode of First Things First with Nick Wright, its co-host, the American sports analyst and commentator on Fox Sports 1, Chris Broussard shared some valuable insight on whether Brock hype is too high, too low, or just right. He said, “I think the hype is just right. I think this is tempered. I think…it’s like nobody’s just going out there fully saying he’s going to be Joe Montana, except Rex Ryan….He might be Dak.”

Broussard magnified that nobody, especially this early in their career, can be compared to Montana and Brady. But he did mention that Montana just had two and six in his first eight starts. He had nine interceptions in seven games in his second year in the league. So nobody even thought that he would become an all-time great, and the same with Tom Brady. So no one knows what’s going to happen.

Brady compliments Brock Purdy, the unbeaten quarterback of the 49ers

With an undefeated record of 10-0 in the regular season of the NFL, the 23-year-old quarterback of the 49ers has become one of the most pursued passers. Purdy, who was selected in last place in the 2022 NFL draft, is gaining great recognition for his mettle on the field.

Among many, Tom Brady, who is known as one of the best passers of all time, praised Purdy’s performance on the field. He said, “I played against Purdy last year and I can say that he has a great team, he is a leader.” Brady also credited Purdy’s coach, Kyle Shanahan, for his work. Besides him, former Bucs and Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has also appreciated Purdy’s performance on the field.

The two faced off each other in a single duel last year on December 11, 2022. Purdy’s team won by 35-7 against Brady’s Buccaneers. There have been several stances where Purdy has been compared to Brady, saying ‘he is early Tom Brady.’ This makes Brady’s appreciation for the quarterback even more flattering.
