With a lot of speculations and chatter surrounding Chris Jones’ future in the Kansas City Chiefs, the star defensive tackle finally took affirmative action and addressed the matter during the Super Bowl victory parade in Kansas City, Missouri.
Entering the 2023 NFL season, the Chiefs DT used his bargaining power to the fullest, causing him to miss the entire training camp and preseason along with sitting down the first regular season game. But after his team’s glorious victory at the Super Bowl, Jones went contrary to his previous stance, claiming he’s returning to the Chiefs.
Filled with energy and excitement, the star defensive tackle screamed in the microphone, on Wednesday’s victory parade in Kansas City, saying:
I need three of those rings, baby, we ain’t done yet. Kansas City, we will be back here next year. And for those who want Chris Jones gone, I ain’t going nowhere, baby!Chris Johnes said
As per a source close to Pro Football Talk, an agreement between Jones and the Chiefs is expected to be announced very soon. He is likely to sign a three-year deal after the marvelous season of 2023-24.
However, there’s a catch: Having a salary cap of $26.808 million, it is yet to be seen whether the Chiefs would give the franchise tag to Jones. If they decided not to, Jones would get a ticket to free agency.
How Chiefs and Chris Jones are trying to reach a deal after Super Bowl win
When the Chiefs’ head coach Andy Reid was asked about the whole Jones situation earlier this week, he stated that the franchise wants Jones to return. He quoted general manager Brett Veach‘s words:
We’d love to have him [Chris Jones] back.Andy Reid said
He claimed that as both parties are willing to work together, they will find a common ground that fits both their needs. He added:

Last Sunday, at the nominal Super Bowl victory, Jones became one of two players to be named first-team All-Pro and a Super Bowl champion in consecutive seasons in the history of the NFL. The only other player on that list is the former New England Patriots great Richard Seymour.
