The Kansas City Chiefs played the New York Jets on Sunday night football in week 4. It was a close game, with the Chiefs coming out on top 23-20. Although the end result was expected, what came as a pleasant surprise for the Jets fans despite the loss was QB Zach Wilson‘s performance. The young QB replaced the injured Aaron Rodgers during the first game of the season and has struggled with his performances throughout the season.

Wilson came into last night’s game having thrown more interceptions than touchdowns through three weeks. However, the QB had his best game for the Jets this season, throwing for 245 yards and two touchdowns with zero picks.

He made some big throws down the stretch and almost led his team to a win over the mighty Chiefs. The quarterback still hasn’t managed to get rid of some critics, though, as NBC‘s Rodney Harrison still had doubts about Wilson, and he made those clear in a rather awkward interview with Chiefs’ DT Chris Jones.

Harrison tried to bait Jones into saying something controversial about the Jets QB after the game. Jones, however, used this opportunity to the exact opposite, as he praised Wilson for his improvement and called him ‘special.’ When asked whether Wilson was better than what the Chiefs anticipated, Jones said, “Honestly, if I’m being completely honest, we knew it was gonna be a battle. He’s continuing to get better week in and week out.”

Harrison kept on pushing Jones to say something bad about the QB, but Jones had nothing but great words for Wilson. “Like I said, Zach Wilson is special, man. You just gotta give the guy time, you know what I mean?” It was a very awkward interview, as Jones smartly dodged all the poking from Harrison.

With the loss against the Chiefs, the Jets are now 1-3. The Chiefs, on the other hand, improved to 3-1. Although the Chiefs won the game, they did not look great against a struggling Jets team and will look to play better in their next game against the Minnesota Vikings next Sunday. The Jets will play the Denver Broncos in their next game.

Zach Wilson takes accountability for the Jets’ loss to the Chiefs

The New York Jets lost an agonizingly close game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday. Their QB, Zach Wilson, had his best game of the season as he threw for two touchdowns and zero interceptions. However, it was his late fumble that helped the Chiefs run out the clock and win the game. Wilson took responsibility after the game.

“It’s on me,” Wilson said after the game. “Critical situation; I can’t have a play like that. I cannot drop the ball. This team is sacrificing a lot. Guys were making plays, defense was making plays, o-line was protecting, and receivers were making plays. To be driving right there, to drop a snap—I cannot do that. I lost us that game, and I cannot do that. I was making it clear to those guys that I need to be better. I need to be better on the little things, the details. Can’t happen.”

The Jets will play their next game against the 1-3 Denver Broncos, and Wilson will hope to build on this performance going forward. He has shown signs of improvement, and last night was a great example of that as he took responsibility for his team’s defeat.
