In just a few hours, a Super Bowl champion will be crowned for the 2023-24 season. The Kansas City Chiefs led by Patrick Mahomes are taking on the Brock Purdy-led San Francisco 49ers in the big game in Vegas. Ahead of the decisive game, the Chiefs’ defensive lineman Chris Jones bawled his eyes out during the national anthem.

In a short video shared by the NFL‘s official account on their social media profile, the All-Pro defensive lineman Chris Jones could be seen showing strong emotions as tears rolled down his eyes while listening to “The Star Spangled Banner” performed by Reba McEntire inside the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.

The short 8-second video went viral on social media and accumulated more than 230k views within just minutes of posting. Check out the footage of the emotional moment attached below.

Fans on social media had mixed reactions to Chris Jones’ emotional moment. While some fans thought Jones was going through an emotional moment during one of the biggest nights of his life, others thought Jones was intentionally crying for the camera. Besides, some fans also noted how Jones’ moment looked very similar to the Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni‘s moment in Super Bowl LVII.

Sirianni also bawled his eyes out in the middle of the field while listening to the anthem. His team ended up losing the game. Fans believe this game could result in a similar way to Jones and the Kansas City-based football team.

Chris Jones needs to have a big night for the Chiefs to win

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking to defend their Super Bowl crown and become the first team to win back-to-back rings, since the New England Patriots did it nearly two decades ago. For them to win, Chris Jones has to step up big time and have a remarkable game.

Jones had a great campaign in 2023 as he registered 10.5 sacks, despite sitting out some games early in the season due to a contract dispute. As a result, he got named to the Pro Bowl and the first-team All-Pro squad.

Now, the Chiefs would expect Chris Jones to ball out on the field against a tough 49ers team. The Niners have All-Pro players all across their team and their QB Brock Purdy is one of the most underrated players in the league.

So, in brief, the Chiefs need Chris Jones and their defense to have a great game against the offensive juggernauts to win the Super Bowl this Sunday.
