“OBJ will just be a distraction” Chris Russo believes that signing WR Odell Beckham Jr. will be a huge mistake by the Cowboys
Odell Beckham Jr. Chris Russo
Odell Beckham Jr. has proved himself in numerous teams and is considered the most gifted WR of this generation. The WR won a Super Bowl with the Rams but later incurred a terrible injury that put him out for months and eventually his former team had to let him go.
OBJ has now recovered from his injury and is looking stronger than ever. The free agent is looking for a new club and the Dallas Cowboys are rumored to sign the 30-year-old.
While many analysts and fans think that his signing will further strengthen the already stacked Cowboys squad, Chris Russo believes it can be a huge mistake.
Russo recently appeared on ESPN’s First Take and spoke about the rumors of OBJ joining the Cowboys and quickly disregarded them saying that the WR can turn out to be a huge distraction.
“The LAST thing the Dallas Cowboys need is Odell Beckham!” Russo stated on First Take. “You bring Beckham in, you bring all sorts of distractions to the party.”
The mad dog was unleashed as he pointed out that the Cowboys are doing great without OBJ and completely decimated the Vikings both offensively and defensively. Their squad is perfect currently and doesn’t need any additions.
Can Odell Beckham Jr. fit in at an already stacked Cowboys roster
Odell Beckham Jr. possesses such qualities that can make him a worthy addition to any squad in the NFL. However, Russo wasn’t wrong when he stated that the 30-year-old can be a distraction.
If OBJ is signed in the middle of the season, then there is a high chance that the WR will have a tough time adjusting to the play style and the squad as there are no preseason games. This also includes the issue of chemistry with Cowboys QB Dak Prescott which is highly essential for OBJ to thrive.
Although, if the Cowboys are looking to sign the WR then they would have looked into this issue and found the likely solution for it. The Cowboys want to go deep in the playoffs this season and eventually challenge for the Super Bowl. OBJ can either be the missing piece to their puzzle or he can destroy the puzzle altogether.
Odell Beckham Jr’s former team, the New York Giants are also in the running to sign the WR as they also look like strong contenders in this season of the NFL.
