The fortunes of the New England Patriots‘ head coach, Bill Belichick, is hanging by a thread. The Patriots have been very poor throughout the season. They have lost eleven games and won just three.

For the first time since 2020, the team is set to finish their season with less than seven wins. In addition, it will be their second consecutive losing season.

With all these, speculations are getting high that Robert Kraft, the owner of the team, might complete the golden handshake with the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach after the season.

Though Kraft and Belichick remained skeptical about the possibility, the news was circulating like a fire. Multiple players and analysts have spoken on the issue. The latest to join the bandwagon is Christian Fauria, who played under Belichick. The tight end, in fact, won a Super Bowl with the Patriots. 

Speaking on the issue, Fauria said that Belichick is not the problem for the Patriots. The team is not suffering from any coaching problems. Instead, he focused on something else. He said that the team is having problems regarding personnel.

The former player and the present-day analyst said this on the CBS Sports program. When he was asked whether he believes that the Patriots need to move on from Bill Belichick, he said a straight no. 

Belichick has suffered a lot of criticism this season. His tactics with the quarterbacks did not go well. In addition, the departure of Malik Cunningham also sparked criticism of him.

With all these, a lot of people think that Belichick must go. However, Fauria believes that the veteran is still the best option that the team has. 

Fauria considers Belichick is still the best coach

Amid difficult conditions, Fauria believes that Belichick can turn things around for the New England Patriots. He shared that the veteran is the only person who can fix the mess as well. In addition, he also said that he is the best coach for a floundering team. 

This is still the best coach in the NFL right now. If he took over any team that was floundering, that has issues or can’t get out of their own way, he is three to four wins better than the guy that he would replace.
