The Philadelphia Eagles…oh what can be said about them. From starting the season with chants of ‘Fly Eagles Fly!’ fans are now going ‘Cry Eagles Cry.’ The team has had a horrible 3-week stretch losing to the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, and now the Seattle Seahawks. What is going on in Philly? The team’s narrow loss to the Seahawks has made it clear, that the Eagles need to make some serious changes to their playbook on offense and defense because the other teams have caught up to them.
Why is it that the playbook deserves to be changed? Should the players and coaches not be asked to execute better and play harder? Well, no matter how hard they play, it would make no sense to run the plays their opponents already see coming. Christian McCaffrey, the running back for the San Francisco 49ers appeared on The Manningcast with Peyton and Eli Manning. He was able to predict the exact play that the Eagles offense was about to run just by looking at the formation they were in.
Remember, Christian McCaffrey is an offensive player, it’s not his job to know about opposing offensive formations but the 49ers have studied the Eagles so well that they can predict what play they intend to run even before they get started. In this case, it was the second quarter of the game, on a 3rd & 6 play, McCaffrey predicted the Eagles were going to run a QB Draw, a play where Jalen Hurts will run the ball himself while the running back and tight ends will block and clear the path for him.
The Philadelphia Eagles have become very predictable
And that is exactly what happened. “Jalen Hurts is running a QB draw to the left, the tight end’s going to pull, the tight end’s deep so he’s sifting backside,” McCaffrey said. That prediction was so accurate that Peyton Manning was impressed with Christian McCaffrey.
The former NFL legend had to compliment him for knowing the offensive playbook of his opponent so well, “Oh look at that, that’s a pretty good prediction.” The play did not get the team much yardage, and they could not get anywhere near the first down line. Jalen Hurts was having a flu game last night except his was opposite to the one Michael Jordan had.
Christian McCaffrey basically predicted exactly what play the #Eagles would run last night ?

Eagles have to find a way to make their offense less predictable.

Hurts fumbled twice and had 2 interceptions, he was unable to get any touchdowns. The Eagles had a chance to regain their spot atop the NFC East last night as the Dallas Cowboys lost their game to the Buffalo Bills. However, the Eagles could not close the game out. It has to be concerning for the team that its playbook is so predictable, in the coming weeks, especially in the lead-up to the playoffs, they ought to make some concrete changes or else this team is going to have a very hard time when it goes up against the top teams in its division.
