Christian McCaffrey had a heck of a regular season. He was the second most important player for the San Francisco 49ers after Brock Purdy in the 2023-24. He led the attacking drives, received a hefty number of throws from the quarterback, and produced threats at the opponent’s defense quite often.

After a brilliant season, the running back performed superbly in the next stage as well. In the postseason, he was truly the best player for the Niners with back-to-back touchdown games. His gigantic performance in two clutch games for the Niners sufficed the below-par Brock Purdy.

Following the great performance, the RB got what he deserved, the ‘Offensive Player of the Year Award.’ He won comfortably over the likes of Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb, and Lamar Jackson.

The voting difference between the three reflected the dominance of the 49ers RB. McCaffrey got 39 votes while Hill got seven, Jackson got three and Lamb got just one vote.

In the regular season, McCaffrey registered 1,459 rushing yards with 14 touchdowns. He had 67 receptions as well. In the postseason, the RB registered four touchdowns with 37 carries for 188 yards. The RB was one of the favorites for the MVP Award, along with Brock Purdy. However, he failed to win the MVP Award.

Christian McCaffrey and 49ers have a dream to chase

The 49ers have the opportunity to grab the Super Bowl after nearly three decades and McCaffrey has to play a pivotal role in the game.

The game against the Kansas City Chiefs on February 11 will be a litmus test of the Niners’ offense. The Chiefs’ defense has been supreme throughout the season. They kept the postseason hope of the Chiefs alive amid the offensive struggles that the team had. In the postseason, they kept all the big shots of the rival team silent.

The 49ers had a clutch comeback in their last two games. In the game against the Lions, the team was suffering from a 7-24 deficit. They came back strongly in the next quarters. However, the Niners know that they can’t afford to go down by 17 points against the reigning Super Bowl champions Chiefs.
