A new feather in the cap for the rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud. The QB who signed for the Houston Texans has made a new record for throwing the ball for more than 4,000 yards in a season. A grand success that any rookie QB is willing to achieve.

Prior to Stroud, only four quarterbacks were able to throw more than 4,000 yards in their rookie season. Those four are Andrew Luck, Justin Herbert, Cam Newton, and Jameis Winston. Herbert’s season came in the year 2020. He was the latest inclusion on the list.

The quarterback played his last game against the Indianapolis Colts and registered a win for his side. The win assured them of a playoff spot.

In his last game, Stroud threw for 264 yards and registered two touchdowns. He had a passer rating of 134. His 264 yards led his overall tally to 4,108 yards with 23 touchdowns.

Stroud is likely to be the best quarterback in terms of having less number of interceptions. He has only registered five interceptions this season, the lowest percentage (1%) among all the quarterbacks.

CJ Stroud’s journey has been a fairytale

Stroud has achieved a lot of things this year. As a rookie, Stroud bagged five touchdowns in a single game. A record that he would always remember and so do the NFL fans. His performance and statistics have made him the unprecedented favorite for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Despite his phenomenal performance on the gridiron, the QB went through many hardships in his personal life. His father was subjected to a 38-year-to-life sentence in a carjacking, kidnapping, and drug-related case in 2015. Stroud earlier termed the justice system in the state ‘corrupt.’

In an interview with the Associated Press, Stroud opened himself up regarding his helplessness.

I was hopeless for a little while--I didn’t know if I was gonna make it out or be anything.
he told the AP in an interview earlier this season

On the business end of things, the Texans have already qualified for the playoffs with a solid 10-7 record. They can also clinch the AFC South division title if the Jacksonville Jaguars lose their week 18 game against the Tennessee Titans.
