“They should if they’re smart but you know..” C.J. Stroud takes a cheeky dig at the Bears for not wanting to keep Justin Fields as QB1

The Chicago Bears have a big decision to make ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. With less than a couple of months left for the Draft, the Bears — who are currently holding the No.1 overall pick — have to decide whether they want to keep Justin Fields as their QB or draft Caleb Williams as his replacement. Amidst this, the Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud shares his two cents on the topic.
During the Super Bowl week, C.J. Stroud had a short interview with USA Today, where he was asked what the Bears should do with their first overall pick. Stroud said the Bears should keep Fields if they are smart.

They should if they’re smart but you know..Stroud said
Before Fields could finish his sentence, the interviewer interfered and said, “But, it’s the Bears” joking that the Chicago-based organization is not smart enough to do the right thing. Stroud burst out in laughter before he shrugged off responsibility for the joke by saying, “You said it, not me.”
It seems like C.J. Stroud has a clear decision on what the Bears should do with their first-round pick. But, it’s not that easy for general manager Ryan Poles and his team.
Poles would think a lot before missing out on the opportunity to draft a generational prospect in Caleb Williams. But if Williams didn’t work in Chicago, he would have to answer to a lot of people since Fields has shown a lot of improvement since his rookie year.
Poles still has a few weeks left before he has to make a decision. But between Fields and Williams, he really can’t go wrong if he used the rest of his resources to build a great team around his quarterback.
Justin Fields unfollowed the Chicago Bears on Instagram
While the Bears are pondering about what they should do with the No.1 overall pick, Justin Fields seems to be tired of the Fields-Caleb Williams discourse. Recently, the dual-threat QB unfollowed the Bears on Instagram.

The move could mean absolutely nothing. But some fans are convinced it might imply that the Bears are moving on from Fields.
The Chicago-based football team has not shopped Fields yet in the off-season. But they have received some calls about Fields’ availability and the Bears reportedly now have an idea about what they would get in return for the QB.
Nonetheless, the NFL off-season is getting interesting with just weeks left for the start of the free agency. The Bears have a lot of cap space left and they are expected to be aggressive in this off-season.
