The Results are out! The winner by fans’ choice for the Rookie of the Year is the Houston Texans’ star CJ Stroud. However, not everyone seemed too happy with the conclusion of the votes for this award, arguing there are other rookies more deserving of the award, especially Puka Nacua. 

Last Thursday, the Texans proudly announced the results of the NFL’s fan-voted Rookie of the Year for 2023– rookie quarterback Stroud. The best decision made by the Texans at the 2023 NFL draft was picking Stroud as the No. 2 overall pick and then taking the risk of making a rookie starting QB.

But as mentioned, it was their best decision as not only the 22-year-old led the team to the Divisional Round of the playoff, but he also ended their four-year postseason drought.

With a truly magical season, Stroud became the fifth rookie to pass the 4,000 yards distinction in a season and the first Ohio State alumni quarterback to be named a Pro Bowl. On top of that, Stroud is also the finalist for Offensive Rookie of the Year, whose results will be given out by Thursday night. 

This season, Stroud started 15 games with a season record of 9-6 and recorded 4,108 yards, 23 touchdowns with only five interceptions, and a passer rating of 63.9 percent. In addition to this, he rushed for 167 yards and three scores. 

Fans’ mixed reaction to CJ Stroud winning the Rookie of the Year award instead of Puka Nacua 

Though no one can deny Stroud’s brilliance as an offensive player, many believe he’s not the most deserving athlete to win the Rookie of the Year award. And by the most deserving, they mean the Los Angeles Rams receiver, Nacua.

Both Nacua and Stroud are also finalists of the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award, where the Rams WR has a legitimate chance of winning the award considering the fact he broke a 63-year record for receiving yards by a rookie and also posted the highest receiving yards by a rookie and third overall.
