The Clemson Tigers lost to the Miami Hurricanes on Saturday in double overtime. The Tigers led by 10 points heading into the fourth quarter, but the Hurricanes came back. They scored 10 unanswered points to take the game to overtime. Both teams managed to score a field goal in the first OT and Miami pulled off an impressive victory in the second overtime. Clemson HC Dabo Swinney caused a little bit of a stir after the game with his post match comments.
This was Clemson’s third loss of the season. They came into the game on the back of a 5-point win against Wake Forest. However, they weren’t able to follow that up with another win. Swinney was asked about the team’s psychologist and if the team has one to help the players cope with such defeats. The head coach had a bizarre answer to that.
Addressing the media, Swinney said when asked if they have a psychiatrist with the team:
We got ‘em. He’s probably on suicide watch right now. Yeah, we got ‘em. Again, sometimes things don’t go — I mean, I’m sure things have not gone the way y’all always want in your professional career from time to time.Dabo Swinney to the media
He further continued by saying:
You’ve had a plan, you’ve worked hard, you did everything and it didn’t go the way you want. Well, you know what? You just gotta keep moving, you gotta keep going.
Swinney’s comments drew criticism from the fans on social media. The Tigers have now dropped to 4-3 through seven games of the college football season. They are 2-3 in the ACC with the loss. Clemson will look to bounce back in their next game against the NC State Wolfpack.
