Football is a contact sport, and players suffer a lot of blows throughout their careers. Some of these heal over time, but a few can have a long-lasting effect, as Pro Football Hall of Fame cornerback Deion Sanders is currently going through. The NFL legend will be undergoing two surgeries on his foot.

The Super Bowl winner with the Dallas Cowboys, Deion Sanders, is a well-known figure in the sporting world. He is considered to be one of the greatest cornerbacks of all time. However, Sanders, like any other player, was susceptible to injuries. Throughout his career, he faced various injuries that, in some cases, can have long-term consequences.

Sanders has been battling pain in his feet for a while and previously had to amputee a few of his toes to get some relief. In a segment of Thee Pregame Show hosted by David Ubben of The Athletic, he revealed, “Sanders had his big toe and second toe amputated in 2021.” The former 49ers star reportedly had blood clots that “caused compression syndrome in his leg.”

Sanders, after hanging up his boots in 2006, turned to coaching and is currently the head coach at the University of Colorado. The 55-year-old Florida native revealed, “They already got them (blood clots) out of this leg. Now, we’ve got to get them out of there.”

Although Sanders is positive that the doctors won’t completely amputee his leg. However, if it was necessary, he would go through with it. He recently learned that his mother and his two uncles, one of whom passed away, had issues with blood clots, according to Andscape. In light of this, Sanders has made the decision to proceed with surgery, scheduled for Thursday.

Eight-time Pro Bowl cornerback Deion Sanders, who is now in charge of the Colorado Buffaloes, revealed he will miss the PAC-12 media day in Las Vegas on Friday because of his surgery.

Sanders is in his first year coaching the Buffaloes. Previously, he had a successful three-year stint as the coach at Jackson State. Sanders won a couple of SWAC league titles and managed a 27-6 record.

Despite being hindered by constant leg pain, Sanders remains determined to overcome his challenges. To attend matches, he has required the assistance of a golf cart or a wheelchair. However, despite these obstacles, Sanders is confident in his ability to make a return by September 2, just in time for the Buffaloes’ to begin their TCU season.
