Colin Cowherd and his fiery hot takes go hand in hand. The seasoned analyst is capable of speaking his thoughts, which sometimes do not sit well with NFL fans. On this occasion, he faces their wrath by picking Trevor Lawrence and Calvin Ridley over Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.

But why did he do that? Cowherd, similar to last year, has created a list of the top 10 quarterback-receiver duos that the NFL needs to watch out for in 2023. Unsurprisingly, there were a few entries that came as a shock to many. In the latest segment of FOX Sports Herd, he went on a rant to explain his picks. It started off with a rather modest name: Chargers pair Jared Goff and Amon Ra St. Brown. It trudged on slowly until a pair of names left the netizens baffled. Cowherd picked the Saints’ Derek Carr and Chris Olave ahead of the likes of Josh Allen and Stefon Diggs.

Not something most were hoping to see. However, the next few names are the ones that have left the fans confused and curious. Cowherd favors the Jaguars’ Lawrence and Ridley over the Chiefs’ Super Bowl-winning combination of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. He topped off the chart with his ‘Man’ Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase.

Fans left scratching their heads with Colin Cowherd’s list seeing Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce behind the Jaguars duo

Since Colin Cowherd made the list public, he has been the subject of ridicule from confused fans. They can’t fathom why the Jacksonville Jaguars duo is ahead of the likes of Mahomes and Kelce.

As correctly pointed out by a few eagle-eyed supporters, Cowherd picking Trevor Lawrence and Calvin Ridley at all is a surprise, let alone placing them ahead of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce. The Jags pair haven’t even kicked a ball together, even though Ridley has been part of the squad since last year. The 28-year-old playmaker spent time on the sidelines due to suspensation for illegal betting. He will start his first season in Jacksonville in 2023.

On the other hand, there’s the deadly Kansas City Chiefs duo, who have won everything not once but twice. They are the defending champions and the strong favorites to win it again this year. However, what baffles the most is the complete exclusion of the Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and A.J. Brown. They are clearly one of the best in the NFL in terms of production. Without the two, it’s hard to imagine how the Phillies would have gone the distance.
