“Who even listens to him!” – Colin Cowherd gets BASHED for claiming only four teams would be interested in Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa in an open market despite him being one of the MVP frontrunner
Fans dismiss Cowherd's assessment regarding Tagovailoa and question why he still has a job.

Colin Cowherd is not sold on Tua Tagovailoa despite a remarkable season with more than 1800 passing yards and a 114.1 passer rating in just six games. He raised the question of whether Tua’s peers have already bagged multimillion-dollar contracts. Why is it taking the Miami Dolphins to give him a new one? If this goes on, then the team’s interest in a trade, if they wish to, will reduce.
“What is the market for your quarterback?” Cowherd asked during a recent segment of FOX Sports 1’s The Herd. “The answer is kind of a small market. Maybe four.”
To put weight behind his argument, he cited the example of Daniel Jones. The New York Giants gave him a $160 million contract after just one Pro Bowl season. However, the Duke alumnus is a mere shell of his previous self prior to the deal. If this keeps up, a situation will eventually arise when no team wants to take Jones off of the Giants’ hands. It will result in Jones getting paid even though he won’t see the field.
Cowherd argued that the Dolphins need to think this through before extending Tagovailoa’s stay in South Beach. Considering the Pro Bowler doesn’t have a great history when it comes to injuries, last year he missed the latter half of the season due to the concussion protocol.
There are veteran quarterbacks in the NFL, such as Derek Carr, Ryan Tannehill, and Kirk Cousins, who are good at their jobs, but there aren’t a lot of teams that would like to take a chance with them. If the Dolphins take long to decide on Tua’s case, then he might as well join the same ranks as ‘good but not great’ Cowherd claimed.

Social media doesn’t agree with Colin Cowherd’s assessment of Tua Tagovailoa
San Francisco 49ers Brock Purdy is in a similar situation. The last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft was rushed into the Lions Den when the starting QBs were off injured. However, he shocked the entire country by winning 10 straight games. It’s a great achievement, not only for someone dubbed ‘Mr. Irrelevant,’ but for even a first-rounder.

Even so, Cowherd gave credit to the system Purdy plays over his output. Kyle Shanahan is the mastermind who has created such a well-rounded team that anyone will succeed. The same goes for Tua Tagovailoa. With Mike McDaniel pulling the strings from behind and players such as Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle beside him, the 25-year-old looks like prime Dan Marino.
However, social media doesn’t share the same view as the veteran analyst. They criticized Cowherd’s take, believing that Tua possesses all the makings of a great quarterback.
Tua Tagovailoa may have never managed to play a full season, but he has yet to boast a negative record in the NFL. Not only that, if he continues on the same trajectory for the rest of 2023, he will easily throw more than 4,500 passing yards. Next week is their biggest test since the Bills. The Dolphins will entertain the Philadelphia Eagles. Both share the same 5-1 record.
