The game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday was the New York Jets‘ QB Zach Wilson‘s best game of the season. He outplayed Patrick Mahomes in that game. Nobody outplays Patrick Mahomes in any game. But Wilson did, and he almost won his team the game. The Jets lost a heartbreaker in the final stages of the game and slipped to a 1-3 hole.
Wilson’s amazing performance came on the back of three poor outings to begin the season. After replacing Aaron Rodgers in the Jets’ season opener against the Buffalo Bills, Wilson struggled to lead his team to wins. He faced a lot of criticism for his underwhelming performances. However, he redeemed himself against the Chiefs, even though his team lost the game. Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd, however, still has doubts even after Wilson’s terrific outing against the Chiefs.
“The Jets, I know you feel great today, you lost. You weren’t remotely ready to play, you trailed 17-0 at home, Zach Wilson still had the key turnover, a fumble late in the game.” Cowherd said on his show The Herd. “There’s a reason Aaron Rodgers is in the building. The franchise moved off of Zach, he’s not the guy. So moral victories don’t work for me. When you needed him to make a play, he fumbled.” That is a harsh take considering the fact that Wilson actually played better than Mahomes throughout the game.
Wilson completed 28 of his 39 pass attempts for 245 yards and two scores with a 105.2 rating. However, he also had a late fumble in the game which gave the ball back to the Chiefs and they were able to run out the clock. Even though the Jets lost, Wilson’s performance was a huge boost for the franchise. They will hope to build on this against the Denver Broncos in their next game on Sunday.
Patrick Mahomes had a simple message to Zach Wilson after their game on Sunday
The Kansas City Chiefs-New York Jets game on Sunday was a brilliant spectacle. Jets QB Zach Wilson came into the game having faced a lot of criticism for his poor performances in recent weeks. However, Wilson had his best performance this season against the Chiefs but failed to lead his team to a victory.

Chiefs’ QB Patrick Mahomes got outplayed by his counterpart during the game but the Chiefs were able to win the game thanks to a late fumble by Wilson. The Jets QB was upset after the game and took the responsibility for his team’s loss. Mahomes after the game had a simple message for Wilson. While meeting in the middle of the field for the post-game handshake, Mahomes told Wilson, “Hey, play like that all year.”
Wilson and the Jets have now lost three games in a row after winning their opening game against the Buffalo Bills. They will play the Denver Broncos in their next game and will hope to build on this improved performance, hopefully coming out with a win in that game.
