The Bears are currently holding the No.1 overall pick, which they acquired from the Panthers earlier this year.

The 2024 NFL Draft is scheduled to take place in the last week of April, which is nearly 5 months away from now. But for some teams, NFL Draft can’t come any sooner. One of those teams is the Chicago Bears, who currently have 2 first-round picks in the draft, which would help them in their rebuild. But, Fox Sports analyst Colin Cowherd overlooks one of their first-round picks and has already declared them out of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye sweepstakes.
During a recent episode of the Fox Sports show The Herd, host Colin Cowherd talked about how the Bears, who currently have 3 wins are out of Caleb Williams and Drake Maye sweepstakes.
Is Chicago too good right now? The only standings or the only scoreboard the Chicago Bears should care about at all is the Top 10 draft picks. They got 2 picks but now Chicago has got 3 wins. So, they are out of the Drake Maye, Caleb Williams sweepstakes.Cowherd on ‘The Herd’
Despite acknowledging that the Bears got two first-round picks, Cowherd overlooked the pick they acquired from the Carolina Panthers earlier this year during the 2023 NFL Draft. It is true that the Bears managed to get 3 wins and don’t have a top 3 pick of their own. But the Panthers currently have the worst record in the league and are holding the first overall pick.
So, as of now, the Bears are sitting in a comfortable position to draft a quarterback of their choice between Caleb Williams, Drake Maye, and other top prospects. In the future, it might change, but now they are certainly not out of the Williams, Maye sweepstakes.
Caleb Williams and Drake Maye are potential No.1 and No.2 overall picks
The USC Trojans quarterback Caleb Williams is considered the greatest QB prospect since Trevor Lawrence. In fact, some consider him even a better prospect, compared to Lawrence.
At this stage, Williams is almost a lock as the No.1 overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Whichever team holds the No.1 overall pick will be more than happy to add him to their roster.
And then, coming in at a close second position, the UNC Tar Heels QB Drake Maye is expected to be selected as the No.2 overall pick in the draft. So, the teams that need a quarterback should either be in the top 3 draft order or should trade up to add one of these great prospects to their team.
