The Dallas Cowboys‘ quarterback Dak Prescott has always been under a lot of scrutiny since being drafted by the team and replacing Tony Romo in his first season as a rookie in 2016. The expectations were high after a successful rookie season, where he won the NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award and made the Pro Bowl. Since then Prescott has failed to win Super Bowl and although he has made the playoffs on multiple occasions, the expectation in Dallas has always been to win the ultimate game.

In the recent episode of The Herd, host Colin Cowherd slammed Prescott for his underwhelming playoff performances and lack of postseason success. “There is a clear correlation. This is not arguable. His most efficient year was the year they needed him to do the least. So you keep telling me Dak’s the front man of a great band, and every time he’s out in front by himself, there’s no hits,” Colin said.

However, Cowherd did acknowledge his last year’s performance saying, “Yes, last year, he led the league in picks, with the number 1 receiver, with two running backs, Zeke (Ezekiel Elliott) and Tony Pollard, with an offensive coach, with a workable schedule. And he led the NFL in picks.”

While it may come across as harsh criticism, Prescott has not been at his best in the postseason. He led the league last year in interceptions with 15 and had a subpar QB rating of 91. The Cowboys lost to the San Francisco 49ers in last season’s divisional round in the playoffs, where Prescott threw two picks and had a QBR of 51.

The Dallas Cowboys have a very good team and for them to reach the Super Bowl, Dak Prescott has to improve his postseason play. The Cowboys have shown a lot of faith in their quarterback. It’s high time Prescott rewards them with a MVP-type season.

Jordan Schultz says he has no problem with Dak Prescott’s 3 INTs in practice

There were concerns about Dak Prescott’s turnover problems during last season as he ended up with league-leading 15 picks. During Tuesday’s practice, the Cowboys’ signal caller threw not 1, not 2, but 3 picks in one day of practice. Two of them to Dallas’ ace cornerback Trevon Diggs and one to Leighton Vander Esch.

However, Yahoo Sports NFL analyst Jordan Schultz said he had no problem with Dak throwing 3 INTs and that Trevon Diggs is a beast. “I have no problem with it, what’s the context? We don’t know what they were running. Trevon Diggs two years ago had 11 picks. That was the most in four decades. He is elite, he’s an all pro. That’s why to me it doesn’t matter,” said Schultz while appearing on a segment on SPEAK on FS1.

He further continued, “Now Dak Prescott throughout his career has not been a high turnover guy. He has been a reliable quarterback. I have no concern whatsoever.”

Dak Prescott will have to improve on his game to avoid turnovers like last season if Dallas has to make a deep run in the playoffs. Cowboys’ fans will only hope that this is a one-time thing and does not carry over to the next season. If it does, they might be in for a very long and painful season.

The Dallas Cowboys begin their season on September 11 in New York.
