The Philadelphia Eagles surprised a lot of people last season by making it all the way to the Super Bowl game on the back of a breakout season from their franchise QB Jalen Hurts. Their team got significantly better in the 2023 off-season and the Eagles’ fans are high on emotions about the upcoming season, but Colin Cowherd warns them not to be excited.

“I know, Eagle fan, you know you’re getting back to the Super Bowl! But there’s a lot of blinking lights here,” Cowherd said during a recent episode of his show The Herd. “Philadelphia is really good but there are some blinking lights. Old o-line, lose your OC, Jalen Hurts moves, schedule is brutal, no breaks in the middle of the year, and lost your leading rusher.”

Furthermore, the Fox Sports analyst also cited the Eagles‘ tough schedule as the reason that the Philadelphia-based football team might have a falloff in the upcoming season.

The Eagles do have a tough schedule ahead, but they currently have one of the best, if not the best, roster in the entire league. They have multiple first-round prospects in the 2023 NFL Draft. Also, their offensive line isn’t as old as Cowherd claims. Only two of the 5 starting offensive linemen are currently 30-plus years of age and one of them hasn’t allowed a sack in 2 seasons.

Moreover, their previous leading rusher Miles Sanders had 4.9 yards per carry. Their newly added running back D’Andre Swift had 5.5 yards per attempt behind a worse offensive line. Losing both coordinators and a tough schedule are the only valid points made by Colin Cowherd in his rant.

The Philadelphia Eagles started the 2023 off-season in a very bad way as they lost their star DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson, starting DT Javon Hargrave, and their leading rusher Miles Sanders.

However, they have recovered very swiftly. They have added multiple players in the off-season. The Philly-based franchise added CB Keele Ringo, DT Jalen Carter, and RB D’Andre Swift to replace the lost players.

Furthermore, they also added star pass rusher Nolan Smith in the 2023 Draft. Offensively, they are one of the best units in the NFL right now. So undeniably, the Eagles got a lot better on paper than last year.

Now they will look to defend their NFC Crown and potentially win a Super Bowl ring in the upcoming season under the leadership of their dual-threat QB Jalen Hurts.
