Colin Kaepernick is a former NFL QB who is currently a human rights activist. While the whole country celebrated the 4th of July independence, Kaepernick condemned the celebrations and slammed ‘white supremacy’ with an interesting tweet in 2020.

The 4th of July is often celebrated with fireworks and parades around the country. It was on this day that America gained independence from the British colonies. However, slavery was also prominent during that time and the former NFL QB condemned everyone who still supported that.

“Black ppl have been dehumanized, brutalized, criminalized + terrorized by America for centuries, & are expected to join your commemoration of “independence”, while you enslaved our ancestors. We reject your celebration of white supremacy & look forward to liberation for all,” Colin Kaepernick stated in a tweet.

The human rights activist paired this controversial quote with a video that invoked all kinds of reactions. Kaepernick uploaded a compilation video of all the slaves, police brutality, the infamous KKK and also had the declaration of Independence added to it.

The tweet by Colin Kaepernick went viral, and many have given their views on the controversial statement. The tweet is still pretty active and is bustling with controversial views.

Several seasons ago, Kaepernick was ousted by the NFL for kneeling during the national anthem of the country. Since then, the former San Francisco 49ers QB has been trying to get into the league.

According to various sources, Kaepernick got a trial from the Las Vegas Raiders, but it didn’t turn out in his favor. They later went on to give the backup QB role to Jarrett Stidham.

Interestingly, the 35-year-old is still positive and works 6 days a week to prepare for the NFL. He desires to go ‘toe to toe’ with QBs like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.

“I’m going to keep pushing,” Kaepernick stated according to SI. “I’m going to keep fighting for it because I know I can step on the field and play. Every workout, every opportunity I’ve had to show that, the feedback has always been positive.”

His recent Twitter controversy has made things pretty difficult for him. The NFL always stays away from controversial players, therefore, Kaepernick has to fight an uphill battle now if he is serious about his sports comeback.
