Jim Irsay did not take too kindly to statements from ESPN First Take contributors Molly Qerim and Kimberley Martin regarding his recent interview with HBO that documented his March 2014 DUI arrest. The Indianapolis Colts owner fired back with a very controversial tweet that has social media in uproar.

In the interview with Andrea Kremer that aired on Tuesday, Irsay claimed that he was unfairly arrested by the police for being a ‘white rich man.’ It became the talking point of the country, and naturally, the ESPN crew chimed in with their take.

However, the 64-year-old was aghast by both Qerim and Martin’s assessments. He sent out a couple of tweets as a form of retaliation; one of them was directed at the two ladies.

On 1st Take, the woman that preceded Stephen A [Smith]... how dare you pretend to know me; I don't know your name and I don't care to.

Then he brought his mother into the conversation, who happened to be Black, to put some weight on the argument.

If my Black Mother Dorthy was still alive.. you'd be in some Hot Water! You are mean and ugly—a nothing Burger.

Why did Jim Irsay verbally attack Molly Qerim and Kimberley Martin?

Irsay claimed that he told nothing but the truth in the interview with HBO. Not only that, he doesn’t care what others make of it. His tweets suggest otherwise. Not to mention, they appear borderline misogynistic and even a tad racist considering one of the analysts is of Black descent.

One might be led to believe that Qerim and Martin had said something indecent. But they were merely conveying what they thought Irsay should have said rather than talking about his arrest.

If you're going to revisit that after 2014, an opportunity to address a serious situation where many people have lost their lives. Instead, you took it in that direction.

The ‘woman that preceded’ Stephen A. Smith, Kimberley Martin, however, was not so subtle with her wording.

What's frustrating is that his comments exemplify exactly what people think NFL owners are.

According to her, most people believe that football franchise owners are detached from reality.

Just a total lack of awareness of their privilege and the flippancy of how they discuss their privilege.

This matter has almost reached the point that Irsay has even threatened to sue the ESPN crew. Whether he actually goes through with it, only time will tell.
