The Washington Commanders finally got new ownership as the NFL approved the sale of the franchise by Daniel Snyder to a group led by Josh Harris on Thursday. Just minutes after the sale got the green light from the other team owners, the league commissioner Roger Goodell released the report of attorney Mary Jo White’s investigation regarding the sexual assault allegations and toxic workplace culture.

“The conduct substantiated in Ms. White’s findings has no place in the NFL,” Commissioner Roger Goodell said in a statement as per NY Post. “We strive for workplaces that are safe, respectful, and professional. What Ms. Johnston experienced is inappropriate and contrary to the NFL’s values.”

Attorney Mary Jo White conducted a 17-month-long investigation. The report states the league has found substantial evidence of the Commanders hiding $11 million in revenue which should’ve been shared with the other NFL teams. Furthermore, the investigation also found evidence of Dan Snyder sexually harassing former team employee Tiffani Johnston.

Johnston, who used to be a cheerleader and a marketing staff claimed that Snyder sexually harassed her by pressing her against his limo and inappropriately touching her at a work dinner back in 2005 and 2006. Snyder refuted the claims calling them “outrageous lies” but the investigation termed Johnston’s claims credible after four witnesses remembered Johnston telling them about the incident.

As for the Commanders hiding the revenue, the league could not determine whether Snyder was involved or not. The league stated that “certain former senior executives” directed the conduct. And finally, the report claims that despite their promises Dan Snyder and the Commanders failed to cooperate with the investigation for nearly a year and are fined for around $60 million.

After a 24-year-long tenure in Washington, the Commanders are finally free from the controversial owner Dan Snyder. The long-term owner sold the franchise to a group led by Josh Harris for a record $6.05 billion, the largest sale for a sports franchise in North America.

Commanders fans are rejoicing at the exit of Snyder, under whom the Washington-based football team faced a steady decline for the last two decades. Now, the diehard fans of the historic franchise are excited about the future under the new owner.

According to reports, the Washington-based franchise is set to get a complete rebrand, including a new name, under the Harris. Along with the rebrand, if the Commanders could get some success on the field soon, it could help out the new owners to bring back the fans to the stadium.
