The game between the Buffalo Bills and the Kansas City Chiefs attracted a lot of media attention due to the decisions made by the referees. In the dying moment, Kadarius Toney, the WR of the Kansas City Chiefs, received a lateral pass from the Chiefs TE Travis Kelce after the latter dodged a few Bills players.
Toney had a vast field to run into and he ran. He finished the game and thought he had secured the win for his team. However, the referees had some other plans.
The play got canceled as the referees made an offside call on Toney because he rushed even before the drive started. It triggered huge controversy among the players and the analysts. Patrick Mahomes and Kelce openly expressed their dissatisfaction over the decision and the former even called out the referees after the game.
Not only the Chiefs players but also players and members from other teams shared their disappointment over the decision. The latest to join the bandwagon is Sam Howell, the Washington Commanders quarterback.
Appearing on the RG3 and The Ones show, the QB said,
Especially when you go back and look at how many times he lined up at the same spot, you know you would think if they don't say anything about it you think it is okay?.
Sam Howell didn’t forget to give flowers to Travis Kelce
While chatting in the episode, Howell had a lot of praise for Travis Kelce and his game-making. He did not shy away from openly hailing Kelce and mentioned how the TE and Mahomes have developed a unique connection, which is helping the team achieve a lot.
That's what makes Kelce who he is. That just kinda fits his personality. As far as how he plays the game, he runs his routes and you know how and Pat are always on the same page. That connection that they have... it's so much fun to watch. And it's definitely something you want to work on to build with players that you have.
Kelce has done a lot in this season. His attacking intent has helped the Chiefs in the lack of a high-class wide receiver in their team. The TE is now the center point in shaping the attack of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Despite efforts by Kelce and Mahomes, the Chiefs have limped a bit. They have lost five games and that can cost them in the AFC seedings.
