Jets OL fires shots by claiming GM Joe Douglas has gotten rid of ‘bad apples’ since his arrival crediting him for bringing a change in the lockerroom
The New York Jets will be one of the teams to look forward to and most of the credit to the recruitment brilliance from Joe Douglas.

The New York Jets are entering a new era, and Connor McGovern believes that they have made a complete 180 compared to the previous years he has been with them. The offensive lineman praised the work done by Joe Douglas and the coaching staff.
“Yeah, it has been a complete 180,” said McGovern yesterday to reporters through a Zoom call. “They have done a really good job of getting rid of the bad apples. I don’t know how you want to call it—a cancer or somebody rotting the bucket in the locker room.”
Shots were fired, alright. The Jets have gotten rid of several players in the last couple of seasons, but it’s hard to predict who the 30-year-old is referring to as ‘cancer.’ There are a few who love to be in the news for all the wrong reasons.
Just take the example of Elijah Moore. The former second-round pick wanted out after just two seasons with the Jets. His reason was less playtime on offense. Instead of settling the matter internally, he chose to burst out on social media in 2022. The worst part is that everything went down while the Jets were in the middle of a winning run. But McGovern did not speak his name, so it’s hard to pinpoint one guy. But the former Bronco is looking at the brighter side of the Jets.
“When I first got here, we were young; we had some talent here and there,” he continued. “What Joe Douglas, Robert Saleh, and their teams have done to get this locker room to where it is now is remarkable.”
The Jets are on the rise, as Connor McGovern mentioned
It’s not a surprise that the New York Jets are one of the teams to look forward to in 2023. There is exciting talent all over the park. Starting with exciting second-year players Garrett Wilson, Sauce Gardner, and veteran defender C.J. Mosley.
However, there’s no guarantee whether Connor McGovern will be a starter or not. He spent the last season on the injured list following a knee injury in Week 16. There are several notable names ahead of him. Players such as Quinnen Williams, Al Woods, and Solomon Thomas are more likely to get the nod ahead of the former Missouri State man. Moreover, cornerback D.J. Reed made a bold statement that they will be one of the best defenses the NFL has ever seen.
But that should not be a cause for concern; rather, it shows the depth of the New York Jets and the great recruitment policy of general manager Joe Douglas. His masterstroke arrived in the form of Super Bowl-winning quarterback Aaron Rodgers. With A-Rod on the side, there’s renewed confidence in the Big Apple franchise. They will kick off their 2023 campaign against the Buffalo Bills on September 11.
