“I would’ve liked to have played better against the 49ers!” Cowboys boss Jerry Jones cites Kirk Cousins’ example to send an indirect warning to Dak Prescott
Jerry Jones has used the Vikings' win over the San Francisco 49ers as a reference for the Cowboys to learn to beat their arch-rivals.

The San Francisco 49ers have been performing exceptionally well in the current NFL season, initiating it with an impressive five-game winning streak. Notably, one of those victories was against their arch-rivals, the Dallas Cowboys, in a dominant fashion, with a final score of 42-10. However, it appears that the intense effort during that game has taken a toll on the Niners. They subsequently lost their next two matches, resulting in a slip in their record to 6-2.
The Niners’ recent defeat came against the Minnesota Vikings on Monday. It was a close game as the Vikings took an early 10-point lead and never relinquished it. Cowboys’ owner, Jerry Jones, cited the Vikings’ performance against the Niners and claimed that he would’ve like to see his Cowboys play better against the Niners in week 5. He also talked about Vikings’ QB Kirk Cousins and, by the looks of it, sent a subtle warning to his own QB Dak Prescott.
I would've liked to have played better against the 49ers. You see a team step up and play like Minnesota did and their quarterback did, they can be had, the 49ers. Four and two, I will take it, for sure. But we have better football ahead of us.Jones said on 105.3 The Fan.
Cousins had a much better outing against the Niners than Prescott. Jones might be sending a subtle warning to his QB by talking about Cousins.
The Cowboys bounced back from their defeat to the Niners by winning a close game against the Los Angeles Chargers in week 6. They had a bye in week 7 and will play the Los Angeles Rams in their next game. The Cowboys and the Niners might meet again in the playoffs this year and Jones and the Cowboys will hope to get their revenge against them.
Jerry Jones willing to make a trade but won’t initiate talks
Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys are open to making a trade before the trade deadline, which is set for October 31. However, they won’t be the ones initiating the trade talks. The Cowboys are actively looking to enhance their roster before the deadline, as Jerry Jones discussed on Tuesday.
Jones said:
It will have to come our way. I don't want to preclude it in any way, but it always does. The initiation of an opportunity to make a trade that would help us principally has to start over on the other end. That's not showing a lack of aggressiveness, it's just how it starts.
The Dallas Cowboys are considered contenders to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl this season, but they are currently perceived as being one level below the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers within their conference. It will be intriguing to observe the decisions Jerry Jones makes to enhance the Cowboys in the future.
