Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys won 30-10 against the New York Jets, the same team that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen failed to deliver on opening day. This has led most people to believe that Prescott gets unfair treatment from the media.
Since Aaron Rodgers‘ move to the Jets in the offseason, several analysts have picked them as the favorites to reach the Super Bowl. A team that consists of a top-four defense and experience on offense, along with Rodgers’ Super Bowl-winning prowess, was enough to reach the conclusion.
But on the first day against the Buffalo Bills, tragedy struck as the 39-year-old tore his Achilles. So the onus was on Josh Allen to capitalize on the situation. However, last year’s divisional finalist failed to make the most of it. Allen finished the game with 29 of 41 passes completed for 140 yards and a solitary touchdown, along with several turnovers.
On the other hand, the Dallas Cowboys were one of the two favorites (the other team being the Philadelphia Eagles) to win the NFC. But analysts such as Stephen A. Smith refuse to put their faith in quarterback Dak Prescott. To prove his point, the senior ESPN analyst would often quote the Pro Bowler’s post-season record. Prescott, in six matches, has only won twice, which leads to the talks that he can’t deliver when it matters.
However, after two crushing victories against both New York sides, fans believe that Dak Prescott deserves some praise. In two matches, the 30-year-old completed 44 of 62 passes (71 passer rating) for 398 yards, two touchdowns, and one sack. The most notable stat is that Prescott hasn’t thrown a single interception yet, which was the main criticism point for him last season.

Social Media compares Dak Prescott and Josh Allen’s performances against the New York Jets
Dak Prescott went into the 2023 NFL season with a horrible interception record. Last year alone, he threw 15 and 10 the year prior. In the offseason, he vowed to throw as few picks as possible. But a couple in the preseason had the alarm bells ringing in Arlington. Fortunately, for Dallas Cowboys fans, that slot has remained blank for the last two weeks.

Moreover, he continues to profit from a strong offensive line consisting of Micah Parsons, who sacked Jets quarterback Zach Wilson multiple times yesterday. Fans believe the media will still find a way to undermine Dak Prescott’s contributions.
While fans are right in their assessment that Dak Prescott deserves a lot of credit, they can’t forget that the Cowboys gained a huge chunk of their points from field goals. Kicker Brandon Aubrey added 16 points to the total, hitting all five of his tries.
Prescott will have more chances to prove his worth as the season progresses. Next, they will travel to Arizona to face the Cardinals.
