“The Mayor doesn’t have ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE!”: Cowboys GM Jerry Jones says another NFL team won’t come from city to rival Dallas Cowboys

“The Mayor doesn’t have ENOUGH KNOWLEDGE!”: Cowboys GM Jerry Jones says another NFL team won’t come from city to rival Dallas Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys are the highest valued team currently in the National Football League (NFL). It has been estimated that the Cowboys are currently valued at $6.5 billion and in 2021 produced the most revenue in the NFL at $800 million.

However Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson believes that the city requires another pro sports franchise and they have the resources to support that. He is suggesting that another NFL team be formed in Dallas.

Eric Johnson had previously suggested as well that another NFL team should form in Dallas and had even said the Los Angeles Chargers should leave Inglewood and come to Dallas.“Cotton Bowl and Hensley Field, would be ideal locations for a state of the art practice facility and world headquarters or stadium,” the mayor said. “We’re ready for the NFL.”

However Dallas Cowboys General Manager Jerry Jones thinks otherwise and says that the Cowboys should be the only NFL team in the city. He also commented that if the Mayor had knowledge about sports he wouldn’t make such comments.

Well, I like the mayor,” Jerry Jones said. “I like him personally, but he doesn’t have the depth. He doesn’t have the knowledge that others have regarding how unique Dallas is and how we enjoy the interest in the Cowboys. He wouldn’t want to water that down as it relates to Dallas if he knew as much, and has spent as much time in sports as I have.”

That’s correct,” Jones said. “That is correct. And you just said it. You can be rest assured that you would not have the NFL supporting another team because of the kind of value that the game and the NFL receives of having [the] Dallas Cowboys as one of its marquee teams and again, logic tells you [the NFL] wouldn’t want to water that down.”
