“We were a better offense with Cooper”: Cowboys TE Dalton Schultz reckons Cowboys’ offense will dearly miss Amari Cooper
Dalton Schultz and Amari Cooper
The Dallas Cowboys have been rather consistent. Although they couldn’t do much in the post-season, they sure become a force to reckon with during the regular season. Packed with superstars, the Cowboys had all the credentials of making it big last season but they just couldn’t.
Although Cowboys fans were left heartbroken after the team failed to do well in the playoffs, no one was expecting them to make drastic changes to the unit as they had a nice bunch of players. However, as it turns out, the Cowboys have taken quite a hit after losing a few big players ahead of the 2022 season.
“Other guys have to step up in the absence of Amari Cooper”: Dalton Schultz
One big name the Cowboys lost ahead of the 2022 season is Amari Cooper. For the past three and a half seasons, Cooper was the main receiver for the Cowboys. However, Tight end Dalton Schultz has claimed that losing Cooper has actually opened the door for other talented players.
“We’re a better offense with Cooper,” Schultz said as reported by ESPN. “Unfortunately, we don’t have him, and so I think the next step is having guys step up. I think there’s room to grow in a bunch of other aspects of the game,” he added, as reported by NFL.com. With Cooper gone, CeeDee Lamb would have to step up to the task.
The Cowboys showed faith in Schultz and retained him ahead of the 2022 season. After delivering career highs with 78 catches, 808 yards, and eight touchdowns last season, Schultz would be expected to play a bigger role than what he played in 2021, especially in the absence of Cooper.
