Tua Tagovailoa had his career-best season last year despite suffering multiple concussions. The Miami Dolphins QB is seriously talented but has always been overshadowed by his short frame and physical stature.
Still, many believe that Tua is not that talented and is overhyped. Although this is an unpopular opinion, it’s still prevalent in the media. The Dolphins are regarded as clear underdogs for the next NFL season, but Craig Carton thinks otherwise.
Carton grabbed all the headlines due to his bizarre statement during ‘The Carton Show’. The NFL analyst was speaking about Tua’s deep ball throwing abilities and believes that stats paint the wrong picture.
“Sometimes, the eye test is more important than the stat test, and here’s why. Take Plaxico Burress. Great wide receiver. He’s 6-6. He gets open right?,” Craig Carton stated. “I throw like Tua and I underthrow by 30 yards, but Plax is good enough to come back and get it. I get credit for that, which is why that deep-ball stat for Tua is a joke. He’s the worst deep-ball passer in all of football.”
In essence, Carton believes that Tua Tagovailoa is not a decent passer but is carried by his extremely talented receivers. Tyreek Hill is currently one of the best receivers in the league and is extremely fast. Therefore, the Dolphins QB manages to throw deep passes pretty easily despite all the shortcomings.

Tua Tagovailoa believes Dolphins are Super Bowl contenders
The Dolphins barely made it to the NFL wild-card round last season and managed to get an average record. However, this season Tua Tagovailoa strongly believes that they can challenge for the Super Bowl.
Notably, the Dolphins are also contending in the AFC East which is arguably the most difficult division in the league consisting of the Aaron Rodgers led New York Jets. However, Tua is still unfazed and believes his team can make it through.
“I think we’re definitely legit contenders,” Tua Tagovailoa said. “There’s no doubt with the guys we have on the defensive side of the ball. With the guys we have on the offensive side of the ball, I think it can get very, very scary, pretty dangerous.”
If the Dolphins want to make the impossible happen, then they will have to fight an uphill battle against fierce competitors from the AFC. Tua Tagovailoa will have to perform to the best of his abilities along with his competent teammates.
