Last weekend, Dak Prescott and the Dallas Cowboys suffered a humiliating 42-10 loss against their arch-rivals San Francisco 49ers in their week 5 matchup. Following the morale-downing loss, the Cowboys’ star wide receiver CeeDee Lamb made some head-scratching comments on their offensive unit.

Many interpreted that as Lamb showing frustration over the lack of targets in the ongoing season. And now, Lamb has revealed that Prescott approached him about establishing better communication between the duo.

“He [Prescott] came up to me, he’s like, ‘If you have a problem with anything, just come up to me and we’ll talk about it. I don’t care how it necessarily looks in the media, right,'” Lamb said according to ESPN.

Furthermore, the 24-year-old wide receiver also said that he has had time to self-reflect on his comments and will do a better job at handling frustrations in the future following his conversation with Dak Prescott.

“I’ve had to reflect, self-reflect, and I didn’t go the best route to get my end result,” Lamb said. “At the end of the day, I have a job to do and I want to contribute to this team. I do everything in my power week in and week out to do that. Going forward, there is a better way to go about it, make a lighter situation.”

Following the rough loss against the 49ers, Lamb simply replied “I don’t know” to the questions about the Cowboys’ offensive woes. In the game, Lamb had 4 receptions for 49 yards. That was the 4th time in 5 games Lamb had under receptions in the game, which is very few receptions for a number 1 receiver of a team.

CeeDee Lamb has been very quiet in the Cowboys’ offense so far

The Cowboys drafted CeeDee Lamb in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Since then, Lamb has been balling in the league and registered back-to-back 1000-plus receiving yards seasons in 2021 and 2022.

However, the young and talented wide receiver has been very quiet so far in the 2023 season through the first 5 weeks. In 5 games, Lamb has only registered 358 receiving yards and 1 touchdown, which is low for his standards.

It should be noted that the dip in production is not because of Lamb but because of the low number of targets so far. The Cowboys should look to feed their best playmaker more in the upcoming matches which could erase their redzone struggles.
